The following are instructions designed to guide you through removing the Enterprise edition of McAfee Endpoint Security from self-managed, university-owned machines running Mac OS only.

Note: If your computer is managed by UMass Amherst IT, do not attempt to remove the client on your own. Please contact your administrator.

- McAfee Security 1.5 for Mac can be downloaded from our software library for free. This Mac application is an intellectual property of McAfee. My company's security policy requests McAfee Endpoint Security for Mac (ENSM) must be installed and DAT must keep up-to-date.
Mcafee Internet Security For Mac
- In the upper right corner of your screen, click the Spotlight Search icon in the menu bar. Type Terminal and press Enter to launch a Terminal window.
- In the Terminal window, type 'sudo su' and press Enter. Enter your computer's administrator password.
- In the Terminal window, type '/usr/local/McAfee/uninstall EPM3' and press Enter.
Note: 'EPM3' refers to the product version. If EPM3 doesn't work, try EPM, EPM1, and/or EPM2 for earlier versions. If these do not work, try EPM4, EPM5, etc. until the command runs succesfully. - In the Terminal window, type 'sudo /Library/McAfee/cma/scripts/uninstall.sh' andpress Enter. Enter your computer's administrator password.
- Fully reboot the computer.
- After rebooting, follow step 1 again to launch a Terminal window.
- In the Terminal window, type each of the following commands, pressing Enter after each:
- 'cd /usr/local/'
- 'rm -rf McAfee/'
- 'cd /Library/LaunchDaemons/'
- 'rm -rf com.mcafee.*'
- 'cd /Library/LaunchAgents/'
- 'rm -rf com.mcafee.*'
- 'cd /Library/Preferences/'
- 'rm -rf com.mcafee.*'
- Fully reboot the computer.
